Hey all,
Just wondering how hard, if possible, it would be to swap a MK4 golf's 1.6L 8V engine into a MK2 golf's 1.3L engine bay.
Also, I have a clock instead of a rev counter in my MK2 and just wondered if its a straight plug and play swap to have a rev counter speedo installed.
Cheers

You can get a 1.8t engine in there so odds on a 1.6 8v will fit.
Question is why a 1.6 8v? surely the 16v engine would be better

you would need to do a lot with the wiring to convert a carbed mk2 for a fuel injected engine. you would also need a fuel injection fuel tank and ideally a better exhaust and radiator. no idea about the engine mounts though.

Reason for the 8v was, i have a mk4 golf and a mk2 and the Mk2 has been sat ina garage forever whilst I tried to source a new carb because the old pierberg died as usual. I was just think about using the mk4 engine, transmission, exhaust and everything i9n the mk2 and making a sort of mix of the two
