Title: GTI post-BW22 delivered :)
Post by: Speedyslug on 01 September 2015, 14:47
Hi all,

After the not-too-long wait (ordered early June) have picked up the GTI today!

Still fresh, so running in the car for now. First impressions: wonderful - especially having had Mini before!

I got the Tech pack (Disco Pro/Dynaudio) and I did spec 'app-connect' for £100, and I though I'd let all know that CarPlay (iPhone 6) works super simple - plug in phone in the USB socket and voila! Also connected to my phones hotspot and all online (Google Earth work great too).

Haven't really read much online about guys with BW22 and app-connect, so hope this helps! Right now just going to enjoy driving it in, and will try get pics and further thoughts closer to weekend :)

That info about app coonect is very useful, thanks.  I have iPhone 6.

I've specced Tech Pack but I was told by my dealer that app connect was included with Pro Nav so no need to spec seperately?  I hope it is!

The understanding does seem to be that the app-connect 'option' isn't required as dealers do all seem to say it's part of Disco Pro! But for me paying the £100 was worth the guarantee! :D

Given the misinformation and notoriously unreliable dealer knowledge, I don't blame you.

I guess I'll find out in about a month whether I should have done the same, although I did expressly ask my dealer if it was definitely included and he said yes!   Time will tell.
