Title: More power - what to buy
Post by: Jordz_GTI on 30 August 2015, 19:03
Been thinking about remaping and tweaking a few bits to my mk6 GTI. I think I would take it to a max of 300bhp due to it only been front wheel drive.

I have a budget of £2000 - £2800 but I need to know what to get that not necessarily brings the most power but sounds good and what people think to the specific parts. Can anyone out there help me out?
Thanks

Hi mate, the obvious things would be getting it breathing better first with an induction kit, something like revo's or pipercross or vwr's one!
Then get an exhaust system, try and get a turbo back with either a sports cat or a decat. Something like milltek or bcs.
Then finally a remap, but you'd probably want a stage 2 as they're the closest thing you coukd get to 300bhp. Something like revo, apr, or superchips bluefin. Although i'd say revo or apr are the best!
Buuuuut, you might need to upgrade your clutch once you go stage 2 as it's more likely to slip with the amount of torque you'll have! Best thing i've ever done remapping a car though! 👍

Cheers mate going to price it up this week and hopefully getting done next month, I don't want to rush into it tho. Mine is a dsg I forgot to mention, do you think I would need the dsg mapping as wel? Can't wait to get it sorted tho it will be rapid haha. Thanks for your help

DSG will be fine unless you want even faster shift times and bit more manual control.

Start with a remap, you will be pleased with the results from this alone and later you can decide if you want further upgrades.
