Title: M135i mini detail
Post by: MAW73 on 30 August 2015, 09:44
Spent the morning yesterday giving my car a mini detail and a top up with Carpro Reload sealant.

Not visible in the photos but she's starting to pick up a few stones chips along the way now. Silver seems to mask the chips well though unless examining  closley. 12k a year and lots of motorway usage so its pretty unavoidable unfortunately.

Used meguiars endurance tire gel yesterday for the first time and it seems a very impressive product from first impressions. Easily applied with a little foam pad and as it's in gel form it doesn't streak down onto the alloys.

Leather seats wiped over with baby wipes and the leather treated with AG leather care.

Looks great, how'd you find the Reload to use?

I'm a big fan of endurance tyre gel. It's messy though on your hands, I use a sponge to apply and as long as I don't layer it on too thick I get no sling.

That looks great, very nice job.

Megs Endurance Gel is really good stuff.  Used to be my go to tyre dressing but I mainly use Quarts.  Megs is second fav though.  I always applied with the dedicated foam applicator.  I never got any sling but others have said it does.  It is messy though, no avoiding that!  Only thing that disappointed me with Megs is it doesn't last that long.  Quarts I find lasts much, much longer.

Is that Bilberry Wheel Cleaner I spy in the spray bottle and behind?  Best wheel cleaner IMO.

Interior looks great too.  Nice to see some colour leather for a change, as opposed to the usual Golf grey/black.  Baby wipes are good on leather, clean and condition at same time.

Thanks mate.

The reload is extremely easy to use. Spritz and wipe on with a microfibre and buff off with a second microfibre cloth working a panel at a time. It takes no more than half an hour to go right round the car. One of the best sealants on the market IMO.

You can water it down to 50/50 to use as a quick detailer if you want as well.

Thanks very much

I will certainly buy the quartz tyre dressing next time around. That sound a great recommendation. Have you got a link to this product?

It certainly is bilberry wheel clean. Agreed works a treat.

Actually they weren't baby wipes they were my wife's face wipes. I'll be in trouble later when she sees I've used the pack. I best shoot down the shops to get some more

Hi MAW

There was a deal on the Quarts for forum members a while back but it's out of stock on their website now.  I've asked if they are getting any more in so I'll let you know in due course.  The website link is in this thread, but the true dressings not showing on the site atm.

The wife's face wipes, only the best for your BMW.

I've heard good things about CarPro Reload sealant.  Plus ages ago someone posted some beading shots on here after using it, and the beading looked phenomenonal.   Might have to give it a go in my R when it arrives.

I'm sure this will have been on your radar..... but there's a lovely Golf R on DW finished off with Reload.

It really does give a glossy finish.

No I haven't seen that, but WOW, amazing gloss and shine.  I'm about to order a few more detailing bits for my forthcoming R, and this might just make it into the basket.  Thanks Martin.

No problem. That R on DW looks really stunning.

I'm glad to see in you spec on the R you have opted for the 19" Pretoria's as well. I can't think of many better looking wheels around at the moment.

Thanks.  Yes I love the Pretorias, a lovely wheel, both sporty and elegant at the same time.  Much better than the Cadiz IMO.  I've had my fill of diamond cut alloys, and don't really like any of the current VW crop of them.

That said, speccing the Pretorias has meant a 9+month wait for the car, so let's hope they are worth the wait, lol.

Bloody hell a 9 months wait! Not sure I could be that patient.

I'm not that suprised though. My parents ordered a new polo gti for my mum. The wait so far has been 6 months, after the dealer said 3-4 at time of order. They gave my mum a hire car (for free) after 4 months so at least she could sell on her current car without suffering further depreciation.

It is mad.  Dealers just string people along.   I didn't want the R until 1st Sept so ordered end of Jan knowing the long lead in times but there have been delays with the Pretorias so still waiting.  It's being built next week, so getting there!

Took delivery of VW hire car yesterday, an Audi A3 - very lacking but the R should feel all the more special after that.

Sold my Mk6 this morning to another forum member.  It's on route to it's new home in Scotland as I type.

I certainly did.

Took yesterday off work to give it a final snow foam, wash and wax.  Plus did the whole interior with Gliptone Leather cleaner and the conditioner.  Honestly that is the stuff of legends.  I love it.  The car smelt like new when I'd finished with it.

Car deserved nothing less.
