So guys today I made a pretty big decision, gonna cancel my current order for my GTD, the itch for an R has just become unbearable lol.
My question is, if I cancel with my dealer will I get my deposit refunded? Car has not yet been built and still doesn't have a confirmed build wee :undecided:

I don't blame you for cancelling.I was just a couple of days off doing it myself until i got my BW.
My deposit was £200 so i wasn't that bothered if they didn't refund it.
VW are their own worst enemy sometimes.

If you are going to put an order for an R with the same dealer they may transfer it over?
How much deposit did you pay?

£500, obviously I will try my dealer but not counting my chickens lol
-
Couldn't understand why you had ordered another GTD in the first place?

Tell the dealer you will go elsewhere if he does not allow the transfer!!

Update Guys
Deal Done!!
Just placed an order for a Golf R with my original dealer I'd ordered the GTD from, got about 10% discount on an R and after a lot of persuasion pushed them to give me a part ex for my current car which will stand until new car arrives (Dealer said this was hard as there was 2 year changes between now and new car arriving)
Went for:
3 Door
Tornado Red
DSG
Winter Pack
Keyless
Rather pleased tbh, I may of got better if I'd shopped about some more but I just can't be arsed with the hastle
-
That's pretty good deal!
Welcome to the ever growing R owners / owners-to-be club.

Why Thankyou, I'm honoured to be part of the club

You seriously will not be disappointed, I love mine, it's awesome, especially in this weather, where the GTI and GTDs of the world are all tramping away from the lights ;)

That's a result well done.
You might strike it luck with the changes as VW might add some goodies like they did with the GTI.

Bah, only those with poor clutch or throttle control are tramping away from lights. Oh and nasty Bridgestones!
Never tramped once in my GTI

It would be great.......but I'm never that fortunate lol

I've got a feeling next year they'll add the stuff they added to the GTI/D.
That's when I'll be pulling the trigger

You getting an R buddy.
They may well add extra spec but with it come a price increase as the GTD and GTD
Nothing's ever free in this world
-
I know but in theory if its already part of the car rather than being added as extras you should get more back come trade-in time.
At least that's my reckoning
I'm only 14 months into my GTD ownership so I'd lose too much just now trading in.
My Mrs on the other hand has just a year left of her 4 year deal so contemplating the GTI for her.
Although she is happy to take my GTD and for me to get the R  She's not into cars
She already took my A1 which allowed me to get my current GTD.
The current kit on a GTI is hard to ignore though.
-
I was quite lucky with the cost increases with my GTI, I was going to add all the bits they have recently included so it didn't really affect me

Good man - well done - I have definitely not been tempted to do this - this thought has never entered my mind and will not bugg me throughout the ownership of my new Golf :undecided:  :undecided:
