Title: Oil found in spark plug hole
Post by: vwprime on 22 August 2015, 16:49
Hi chaps it's been a while
Had a little shock today. Was just messing round with the Golf and thort to look at the coil packs.
As I removed them from left to right I found them swimming  in oil. Only 1,2 & 3 had it in. Nothing in 4 but 3 had the most.
Any one had this before  :undecided:

Do the gasket asap all that hot oil knackers the rubber plugs pretty quickly, coil packs ain't cheap.
No biggy though just dont sit on it.

Yeah it's in my project thread somewhere mate. Gasket is around £15 and is in two parts, one that seals the spark plug/coil pack holes and the other that seals around the outside of the cam cover

Fairly easy to do and don't worry about having to get the oil out, it will drip onto the top of the piston but it will burn off when you start it up
