Hi all my names Si, first post...
I've had nothing but problems with my AUM not boosting right and being sooo slow, I'm at wits end! So thought it's time I asked the experts.
Cut a long story short, after replacing and repairing boost and breather pipes, the car is finally boosting standard up to 0.6 bar and hold's at 0.5. But there just ain't any quickness, pull, sharp throw back in your seat when the turbo kicks in, nothing, it's just flat!! That ain't normal is it? I'm thinking I have a fuelling problem or air sensor maybe O2 sensor that's faulty?
What do you guys think? I'm so fed up now, all my spare time has been fixing her, not driving her
There's no fault codes thrown.
Cheers
Si

don't expect 150bhp to throw you back in your seat  try a map from r-tech it will make it a bit better

Standard 1.8T = crap
Modified 1.8T = money pit

Amen to that
Anyways it sounds like you need to make sure it's running healthy anyway, there's a few sensors that can cause problems and they're probably a bit old now.
Like the other guys said though it's nowhere near as quick as the older style RS Turbos or Renault 5 turbos as the boost is more linear and drive-able.

Hey guys
Cheers for ya replys. I think that's what I've concluded, they are just slow as! Hence why everyone seems to be mapping them. I had an Uno Turbo many years ago and I think I'm constantly comparing it to that.
What sensors should I replace? Water Temp and O2 sensor?
Could the wastegate need tightening? It's pretty easy to move.
Thanks
Si

Sensor wise the MAF and IAT could perhaps do with a clean. N75 could be playing up. It can get expensive chucking random new parts at it.out
Do you know anyone local to you with a good runner to swap and trial any parts before spending out?

You can check temp and O2 sensor. No need to replace unless diagnosed faulty.

I bought a remapped ecu and plugged it in with risk! Car runs fine and boosts very well indeed. The problem was that it was a standard Golf
It's fun to drive now but I do have a flat spot at 3500rpm in every gear. I think I'm not getting enough fuel so I'm replacing fuel filter and fuel pump uprated.
