I still have my R itch - it will not go away but I cannot be arsed to wait +6 months and have trawling through the classifieds and there are many pre registered cars - Listers has at least 6 of them but they are most rental spec with a range a colours. the rental spec cars are up for 28990.
Would appreciate what you guys reckon a good cost is for these cars as I have no idea how much the pre-Reg devalues the car - is 28990 a good price?
Also any views on a trade in price for a 63 (14) non PP deep black car with nav dynaudio winter pack and keyless. 20k miles FSH - excellent condition
Cheers

Just put the spec into a discount car supplier, or if you can get the reg number try putting that into the What Car valuer to get a price.
You will find, as I did, that all Rs being offered are over list price as they are in short supply. I have just ordered a well loaded R for 6K under list as I decided it was worth the wait rather than pay over the odds.

Cant comment on the R price but I would suspect that your GTI would struggle to make 18500 as a true partex value.

According to one particular VW group, the UK is getting an influx of R's in September due to VW over producing them. Given they are struggling to fulfil current orders I'm struggling to believe this, but this is what I've been told:
"Having spoken to our VW Dealerships, it appears that the Golf R, which is a fabulous car, has perhaps been slightly over-produced, to the point where dealerships are getting a stock build of the cars. This is very evident when you consider that XXXXX Group actually pre-registered 5 vehicles towards the end of July, and they are currently retailing for £30,990 with delivery miles.
Talking with the dealers, they do consider the Golf R to be very good news, and therefore an extremely attractive opportunity when it comes to a pre-registration exercise which sadly, many dealerships have to do to meet the ever increasing manufacturer targets. The reason we believe that the end of September may be a pressure point is that the manufacturer targets are based on quarterly performance, and September would be the end of Quarter 3. Therefore if a dealership is tracking behind their objective, the Golf R would be an obvious car to pre-register as it would limit the financial loss to the dealership as happens in so many cases of pre-registration. It's not that VW are planning to flood the market, it's just that inevitably, if a car is slightly over-produced then this is the end result."
May be some deals to be had, particularly for those still facing a long wait.

I phoned a few dealers yesterday who have cars arriving in September, they are basically trying to sell them for full blown retail price and using the excuse that you don't have to wait 6 months for one as a negotiating tool. I tried very hard to get a discount but was getting nowhere, they quoted me £480pm on a PCP 4 year deal, Lapiz R with DSG only, that in my calculations is full price, very frustrating

What happened with your new GTD order? The ink on the order form can't even be dry yet?
