Title: Golf aum oil press stop motor
Post by: mike1990 on 02 August 2015, 15:56
This alert came out about 2 month ago after 2k revs. I checked oil and it was up to level but bubbling. A day later it went away, yesterday it came on again but this time it wouldn't go even when I went below 2k revs, now soon as I start engine and move away about 5 seconds later the alert comes back also does it whilst idling too. The engine is making a loud noise seems to be coming from top of engine. I guess this is the oil pick up pipe blocked? Will I be able to just take the sump off clean the pick up pipe and put new oil in and the problem will be sorted?

I wouldn't clean it I would just replace the oil pickup pipe there about £12 from the stealers if I remember right.
Getting the sump off can be a bit of a pain though.
You'll need new oil (5 litres I think)
new Pickup pipe
Sealant for the sump
and a new oil sump nut

All in all should take about an hour and use a 10mm socket on the 18 or so long nuts that hold the sump on not an allen key in the middle like I did once  be warned though there are some hidden bolts near where the sump connect to the gearbox and these are a proper PITA

best off gettin some ball ended allen keys for the 4 bolts that are partially hidden

Just read it, yes thats exactly what I did lol. Replaced pick up pipe, whilst I was at it I gave it a service, new spark plugs, air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, 5 litres of castrol oil.

Problem now is there is a slight estitation on acceleration, hunts a little bit on idle.. I'm replacing the PCV hose tomorrow, see if that helps.

have you scanned it for faults?

If its hunting on idle, I'd test the MAF and clean the throttle body

There's always been on a fault with the MAF, signal too low. However, I cleaned the throttle body and now it started doing this. I did realign it afterwards.

Have you replaced the MAF then?
