Hi,
I'm looking for some advice on polishing out the swirls on the B pillars by hand.
I'm not sure what material they're made from? So that's my first question.
What's the best polish and pad comb? Plus what would you recommend to protect it? I'm thinking something from Gtechniq?
You advice as always would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

B pillars are made of plastic so quite easily scratched and more prone to swirling than bodywork. I've polished mine in the last month and had good results with a DA using Poorboys SSR2, I would also recommend DoDo Juice Lime Prime, which has given good results previously. Pad choice will depend on how bad the swirls/scratches are but general rule of thumb is to choose your polish, the start with least abrasive pad and step up as required. Need to use a good LED light source to check your progress as you go along to determine if a more aggressive pad/polish combo is required.

Sorry Blackmass, I've just noticed you said hand polish as opposed to DA. Same would apply for the polish but you would use either a decent foam applicator pad or micro fibre suitable for applying polish and working by hand. This is a useful guide to polishing and at the bottom of the page is a step by step guide to hand polishing

Hand polishing might not be sufficient if your B pillars are quite scratched and swirled. It's worth a try but it has it's limitations, if swirls are more than just light then they might need a machine polish. Good luck!
As for protection afterwards, either a good sealant, perhaps Gtechniq C2V3 or wax or both. There's plenty of good stuff out there. Always worth reading the product reviews on detaling websites, which can be useful.

Black mass, whereabouts in staffs are you? If you can get to Burton I'd have a look at them for you with the DA.

Thanks for the link. I was thinking of using the duel polish pad from Auto Finesse. I wasn't sure what material the pillars were made from so didn't know what polish to look for.
I washed the car this morning and they aren't to bad but they is a deepish scratch on the drivers side.

Most polishes, such as Poorboys, Lime Prime or Meguiars are fine on both bodywork and plastic B Pillars.

Sorry Neil forgot my manners. Thank you for your kind offer. I'm going to try to do it myself first.
BTW I ordered your Snow Foam Lance this week. Looks really well put together. I'm waiting for some Bilt Hamber Auto Foam to arrive so I can to try it out.
