Hi all,
love my golf to bits BUT when started from cold the revs jump about and it splutters for a few mins then it settles, it starts everytime, 2002 with 139k on the clock, this has been going on for the last year, its been serviced within the year, when plugged in no code faults showing up...
any suggestions ????
at my wits end

try cleaning the throttle body or a temp sensor

u have replaced the temp sensor already, but not tried the throttle body will do that to start with.

Mine does this from cold start I have found I have a slight leak from the secondary air pump. Does it make a squealy loud noise as its jumping around and revs go up to 1200 the it drops to 900 then goes quiet and settles then drives perfectly? Mines leaking slightly causing this easy to fix just waiting on nice weather to attempt it.

open the bonnet and start it from cold see if there is any noise coming from the bottom left of engine bay as you look in from front of car

Have you tried unplugging the MAF to see if it does the same?
