Title: Golf GTi Mk2 1991 Air Con wiring issue
Post by: Munch on 14 July 2015, 11:41
I have a 1991 Golf GTi with Air Con. I stripped down the heating system to replace the matrix and recover the vent flaps.

I notice there is a three pin electrical socket on the rear of the heater controls. (Vent direction) This is separate to the blower electrical connection.

I cannot find anything that plugs in bar a three pin black plug with Red/ white , Brown and blue/white coloured cables.

I thought this went to the cigarette lighter as it's permanent live.

Any help would be appreciated.

It's not important I don't think, pretty sure it is just to illuminate the faceplate (which is nice I guess). But if I remember correctly, the plug which fits the back of the face plate is different to the plug for the cig lighter, so you sure you have the correct one?

I have the wires to the blower control fan, the two wires to the illumination but there is a third connector of three large blade pins, the other side of the control panel.

Oh right, well mine only has blower and lights (non aircon), so it must be air con related.

I cant find a single picture of what a factory air-con dash set up looks like. Any pics?
