Title: resistor wire
Post by: gazareth on 14 July 2015, 00:50
hey folks. does anyone know if the mk2 golf gti digifant has a resistor wire between ignition key and coil? I found a bad wire between my ignition module and coil so I cut out and replaced with a random piece of wire and now the coil seems to get very hot

No it doesn't:

N is the coil, N41 the Ignition module.
Thickish bit of normal wire from connection G1/4 on the fusebox.
Similar wire between Ig module and coil.

Are you sure you connected things back up right? Both black wires onto term 15 of coil, both red/black ones onto term 1?

hey thanks man  yeah the wires are connected up right so I am thinking maybe the shop gave me the wrong coil. (9v instead of 12v) which would explain why its getting hot if there is no resistor wire to drop the voltage to it.
