Title: Soundaktor post BW22 cars
Post by: Booth11 on 12 July 2015, 22:20
Hi all

I've read that post build week 22 cars now feature a volume setting which allows adjustment of the Soundaktor within Individual mode settings.  Can anyone with a post BW22 car confirm this is the case?  Thanks.

Couple of people over on the R forum have confirmed this is the case. I'll let you know for sure in a couple of weeks :D

Great, much appreciated Joe

Yeah, that's where I read it, but always like to raise things on here as it might be useful for others to know as presumably not just R specific.  Not disbelieving R forum owners, or anything

Forgot to say - two weeks till you get your R then, lucky man

I like the look of the redesigned 4-Motion badge on the post wk-22 cars too: http://www.vwroc.com/forums/topic/4860-golf-7r-photos/?p=161334

2 weeks is overly optimistic on my part. Its scheduled for build tomorrow week. Irish cars generally land into the dealers about 2 weeks after build date.

Cheers.

Me too. Not seen that before, looks much nicer.  Really glad I'm getting a post week 22 car now, with that and the Soundkator volume setting.  Makes the wait easier to take

Still awaiting my stage 3.  Haven't checked in with dealer for since 24th June at which time it was still est week 34.  If it still is I should get text wc 20/7.  Here's hoping.  Fingers crossed you get yours asap.

The wait is a killer but I can finally see the end in sight! I'd say worst case scenario I'll have it by week beginning Aug 10th, but maybe it'll be a little sooner...

I haven't really minded the wait until now.  My Mk6 might be going soon, and if does, I'll be driving a variety of crapmobiles until the R arrives, so there'll be renewed urgency

I'm assuming this is just a new option in the MFD?   I wonder if we can get a software update for this on older cars...?

I picked my R up 2 weeks ago and in individual mode there is an option to change the 'in cabin engine noise' or something along those lines.. basically soundaktor. But anyhow the options are race normal and eco, obviously Eco no noise race full noise. No option to change to say, 75% 45% etc etc..

Thanks.  Well I guess that's better than nothing.   But such a missed opportunity to give the ability to change it by percentage.

I will try it out in the various modes first to see if I can live with it.  If not, it may be turned down or the plug pulled.

Get that soundaktor unplugged! Best thing I ever did.

I noticed that while Eco makes the car much more quiet its was only when I unplugged it that I noticed it was still in the background, even in Eco mode.  Needless to say 15min later I had a heavy little speaker to stick in the shed for posterity.  Hopefully Eco on BW22 will turn if off completely but I wouldn't be too sure.

Does this mean the it will be selectable on the GTI's too or is it just R's?

Hi,

I can't see anything on my post BW22 GTI. I've got a VCDS cable so I set it to 0% in there, however, changing driving modes my well alter the value. I'll try and confirm that.

Neil.

Right. I've had a browse but can't find anything linking it to a menu option, only thing I can think is that it's buried deep in the 09 Adaptions list and that's one I've only got half a map for as the laptop run out of power...

I'll pull a full map later in the week and have another go.

When you select the driving mode, select "individual" in the top right hand corner it gives you an option to customise and then a lit...things like Steering, Engine, ACC, Cornering lights, Air Con....you can basicly combine Sport/Eco/Normal on specific things...Steering - Sport, Engine Noise in Cabin - Eco etc etc

You cannot adjust the volume

Hi,

With VCDS you can set the volume in the A9 Controller as a percentage. When I did the change, I was in ECO mode and it was set to 100%, so I reduced it to 0% and that appears to work OK (ie, it stays quiet no matter what mode you select). Some of the guys on the R forum with post BW22 cars appear to have a option to allow adjustment from the config menu so I'm hoping to find that in the 09 controller adaptations list and expose it with VCDS - I just need to get a full map of the controller to try and suss it out.

I've searched through the Central Electronics module but I can't find anything obvious that's would open up a menu option for the underlying volume of SoundAktor. If it is available, then it's well hidden...

There are lots of options for multicoloured lighting though - if only they fitted multi-coloured LEDs in the GTI then we could have a bit more individuality....
