Post by: Martinmason1982 on 07 July 2015, 21:37
What tyres are everyone running? What was the oem spec? Just bought the car 2 days ago but and it has BCT S800 on it and omg they are horrible but for £52 a corner what can you expect. Think they guy just put these on because he knew he was trading in!!!

ContiSportContact 5p.  Not as long wearing as some but excellent tyre.

Most people run Goodyear Eagles F1's as they are overall a great tyre and price. Can get them for £95 a corner. They have great grip in wet and dry, the wear life is very good and the road noise is very low.

If you have a larger budget the Pilot Sports are great tyre, just let down a bit by wear rate.

Most Conti's as said above are quite good too

But then you need to get a trusted fitter who will be careful with your wheels if a) you take then to him to fit when he hasn't made any profit on them, or b) is being paid a pittance via Black Circles to fit them.

I've found that most tyre dealers will match internet prices. They will make more money, so are more likely to take care.

I've had a few sets of Goodyear F1s and whilst they are an excellent tyre, my current set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports edge them in every area, definitely worth the extra ££s imo

+1 that's what I'll be putting on the R if it comes with the usual sub standard tyres.

Another fan of the Michelin Pilot Super Sport, just recently had a pair on the front to match the rear. Last weekend I had the chance to try them out for real. I know the weather has been warm, so the Tarmac is lovely and warm but the grip in all corners was great, fast bends, exiting roundabouts was no problem at speed no hint of them trying to break free. Heavy braking from speed wasn't an issue , no tram lining or wander, brakes could be better though ! Extra cost could be a factor  in 19s but I'm very pleased.

If you have a west London location I can recommend Rich at RTS Ruislip a great guy and will give you a very good price, talk to him before you order from black circles. He always looks after my alloys, top man.
