Title: Hire Car

Hi, I ordered a GTI PP back at start of April and still stuck at stage 2 awaiting build date, even though i was told a june delivery by the dealer. Given  the delays have any of you guys managed to get a hire / replacement car from VW.

Really starting to get fed up with the wait / lack of info now and starting to think about other options if i can't at least get a replacement car until it comes - new RS3 looks good

Unless they already had an order slot in to which to place your order they should not have given you that delivery date. Early August build would be much more realistic for a fresh order.

You will not get build week confirmed until 4 weeks before the build week - although hopefully you will get that in a week or two....

I'm sure its 20/22 weeks from build week confirmed or something crazy like this before you can claim a courtesy car.
Remember you have dealer allocation etc to take into account so VW would just refer you back to the dealer until then. Like above, the dealer should have given you a more realistic delivery date.

If you can afford and are attracted to the virtues of an RS3 you're probably not going to have a long love affair with a Golf GTI.
The RS3 has many attributes that a Golf GTI will never have and despite being based on basically the same MQB platform it's a very different car.
I doubt you'll get much goodwill out of VW at this fairly early stage and they'll just pass you back to your dealership to see if they're prepared to make a gesture. If you've chiseled all their profit in the car away already then I wouldn't expect them to make any grand gestures but you never know.

Well bit of a coincidence but got a text and email this morning confirming car has moved to stage 3 with a build week confirmed so fingers crossed for delivery in August.

Was just a bit peeved at the wait and lack of info and happened to be reading a review on the RS3. Wanted a Golf GTI for years so can't wait specked it with performance pack, chassis control, Dynaudio, climate windscreen, pearl black and hopefully get the model year 2016 upgrades of keyless ignition, sat av and winter pack.

Can't wait  :grin:

No hopefully about it - thats the standard spec as of BW22......
