Bit disappointed this evening - thought I would be buying some glendale alloy wheels resprayed in Anthracite.
The seller had them refurbished and had opted for the cheaper repair of these lovely wheels! They had the diamond cut areas refurbished with filler and a silver paint. From only the one alloy I looked at, it looked as though they had been brush painted also to deliberately look as if they have the diamond cut finish!!
Suffice to say, when buying 2nd hand parts It's always best to view them in person! (Just as well I didn't opt for courier!)
Still looking for a set of these alloys.....

I'd seen those on eBay and had messaged the seller a while back asking him how he achieved the finish. He was a bit non committal in his answer! I see they've now been re-listed at a much lower price. When he first listed them on the Bay he put them up for £750 and now they're down to £660 or something.
If they've been painted around the edges it's not too bad so long as it's a good job as it means you wouldn't get the corrosion so easily a year or two down the line but from what you say it doesn't sound too clever a job? Did you take any photos of the finish?
On another note - you can buy good quality replicas from an Italian (note, not Chinese!) company that are properly EU certified. They're not marketed as aftermarket wheels, rather as replacements for damaged factory wheels and are reasonably priced but not cheap.
The company is WSP alloys and they're imported by one or two companies in the UK. They are available on eBay for about £739 and if it's of any interest I'll dig out the link.

I didn't take any pictures of the finish, I thought I'd just do a little write up as I would be sure others on here might have looked at them and been tempted! There are a few small paint chips on the very top edge of the rim which gave it away so I can imagine underneath there is possibly a good amount of filler on them! I told the chap that he should really put that in the listing as he had driven 1hr to meet me half way and could've saved us both the time if he had been more clear in his description!
If you have it to hand please do send it me, I would be interested in having a look especially if nothing comes up in the near future I might be tempted - As these alloys haven't been around too long they are somewhat rare to the second hand market and I'm not mad/rich enough enough to go out and buy them new!!

Sounds like they've not been done well at all. As you say, what a waste of time and energy.

Thanks for the warning as I noticed the advert myself

I've been watching these alloys for some time and had also messgaed this guy a while ago and didn't get a reply. Thanks for the heads up and the Italian alloys sound interesting.

Here's a direct link to the Italian ones' factory website.
