Hi, Im looking to order a Gti very soon, Just have a few questions.
1. Is the PP really worth it if the car is just for everyday use (School runs/Shopping ect...
I may have the odd spirited drive when kids are not with me but they are not very regular.
2. I would like white but the Mrs really wants Red for a change as we have never had a red car, But my worry is does the "Blend" in to much, By that i mean with the rear lights, Red trim on the grille, Red badges (if i go for pp) and with the interior having red inside, Will it be all too much?
3. I really like the Santiago wheels but i think I'm going to opt for the Pan roof which i will have to settle for the 18" wheel but I have seen some golfs with Gloss black mirrors and rear spoiler, Are these available or have people wrapped them? I think they will nice with the Pan roof.
4. I know Vw have stated the My2016 cars from 25th may build date will have the Winter pack, Nav & Keyless as standard which is great but Are there any visual changes coming anytime soon? Would hate to have a new car and then visual changes come out and mine is then classed as the "old shape"
5. What are the estimate waiting times for the Gti?
6. I would also probably be looking at getting the Dtuk box, Anyone had any Good or Bad experiences with these. I have had them on previous cars just not on a golf.
Thanks

I pick my white 3dr Gti up two weeks ago. I didn't go for the PP as I heard the Diff is good for racing but as good for normal driving and didn't think 10bhp is enough to worry about. So I went for the Santiage's instead (I wasn't that keen on the std wheels) and I have to say they look great with the white. I think the whole car looks stunning. I had a Scirocco before and have to say I think it's better in all departments.
The dealer quoted 11 weeks but it took around 14 weeks.

I went for the PP for the styling.. well ok the GTI on the calipers to be exact. The 10 BHP in not a huge difference. The brakes are fantastic by have not driven the non PP but assume the are better.
Colour is the hardest choice. I was torn between red and white. I went for white as I like the contrast of the badges and the black grill and rear trim . I think the white sets it off.
My car took 14 weeks

I picked up a 12 month old GTi pp last week, If as you say it's doing the school run then I don't think you'll need pp, however, If your going to map it then the LSD & the bigger brakes will be a huge benefit.
I wanted the pp, didn't drive anything else and it does work well, mine has the pano roof, which again for me was a must

Thanks guys, I think your right Eccie, If i am looking at getting a Dtuk in the future, I probably would be best to get the PP for the larger brakes & Lsd

1. I would have gone pp if I could have afforded it, but only cos I'm a boy racer at heart! I must admit I think the red badges look gash. The silver ones look much better.
2. White has had its day imo, not as cool as it once was. Plus it's a bit chavvy. Red does suit the Gti, but since my red Civic Type R I would never buy red again.
3. Santiagos all the way, wish I'd forked out the extra cash for them. The offset of the austins is a more forgiving ride, cheaper tyres and a lot easier to clean! Don't go pan roof, they look sh!t.
4. No aesthetic changes in the pipeline as far as I'm aware.
5. 12 weeks. I got mine in 10. The more basic the spec. the quicker it will arrive.
6. Pedal box is a great upgrade, I probably would if my car wasn't leasehire.

I ordered mine on Friday. 5 door manual Carbon Grey. I'm hoping it isn't longer than 12 weeks, but hey, it'll be worth the wait.
Probably would have spec'd the PP for the LSD alone, but having driven the 220 I found myself thinking, hell this is enough car for now.
I agree the Santiagos look the mutts nuts, but again, couldn't justify the extra 1k at this time.
Can't wait to take delivery.

Gotta be DBP or CG for a GTI - a lot of work to keep shiny though.

I didn't go for PP and other than the odd occasion, I don't miss it. Other options were more important to me at the time. Would I order PP if I was ordering again? Not in place of my other options, but I would try and stretch the budget (although I don't like the red badges).
I chose red and I love it, I'd spec it again in a heartbeat. For me, personally, it is the definitive GTI colour.

If the red badges are an issue for people, they are very easily swapped for the silver ones (and vice versa).

Thanks for the input guys, I went to my local dealer this morning and had a chat to them, They told me it would be around 20 weeks wait for the Gti due to the factory having a holiday in august, Which would mean delivery would be mid Nov, Not the nicest time of year to be collecting a car, Does it actually take around 20 weeks?
If so I'm really considering ordering in early Oct for 1st march delivery

There's a red GTI moving in near me soon. I've seen the car a few times, always mint when I've seen it (not for long when it moves in as it'll be covered in builders dust!).
Red looks good on the mk7.
I prefer white (must be a chav going by Snooze) as it shows the red highlights off and really suits the GTI.
Dark colours mask all the contrasting bits so I'm not keen on dark coloured GTIs and GTDs but any other Golf looks good in dark colours.
Light colours show off the angles and sharp lines the best, but in all honesty the GTI looks good in all colours.
The PP is great, the brakes alone make it worth the money but the VAQ diff is fantastic. Ignore the 10bhp!!!

I'd spec PP for the brakes alone. You can never have too much brakes!
The diff and the extra power (which is actually only to offset the extra weight from the e-diff) are fun, but brakes can be a life saver all the time.
