Longest day of the year, summer not even started, and through a chance conversation yesterday, have been offered a set of winter wheels & tyres for a good price
Someone tidying out their house in prep for a house sale and I guess at this time of year he just wants shot of them rather than wait till later in the year
Genuine VW silver 16" wheels with good tyres (205/55 size, so OEM fitment), 5 spoke (similar to those below, but apparently need a refurb - I won't get to see them for a week or two, but if they are as he's described them, any damage is minor
It would also protect my Nogaro wheels against the salt that gets liberally flung onto the roads near me in the winter
Mock up pic here (apologies to whoever the original pic belongs to - couldn't find their forum name), and silver against the red isn't for me , I think
If I do buy them, I'm undecided whether dark/gunmetal grey or gloss black is the way to go
Thoughts?

dark grey looks great against the red and doesn't show brake dust and grime which is ideal when you can't clean the car if your hosepipe is frozen.

Like both the dark grey and black. Don't like the silver. If had to choose I'd go the grey as it adds a bit more dimension to the car over the black.

Maybe steels are the future

I was sent a picture of the wheels a few days ago, and I guess it just shows what some people consider minor damage - 2 of the 4 were heavily kerbed, and the other two were a bit better. I decided to pass...
Instead, found a set of 4 VW 'Dijon' 17" wheels from a German eBay seller for £420 including postage. Three day delivery by UPS, packed really well. Two of the wheels are brand new, and the other two have been fitted, and have a couple of tiny marks, but nothing that needs refurbished.
