Title: New owner Mk 4 3-door GTi
Post by: GrahamR on 18 June 2015, 14:00
New to this forum - due to collect my new car in a week or two. It's my Aunt's old car, from memory a "W" Reg. (year 2000?).

She has newly had the cam belt and water pump replaced. She has bought a new Polo, and was offered such a low trade-in price on the Golf she said she'd rather give it to me! Its a one owner, totally standard with all receipts from new.

Not sure if I'll keep it or not, but looking forward to getting and driving it in the mean time. I'll post some pictures once I collect it.

Hi Cerebral,

I'm actually coming down to your neck of the woods to collect the car - it's in Whitehaven!

Went down to Whitehaven yesterday, stayed the night, drove the car home this morning and spent all afternoon cleaning & polishing:

My Aunty has done well - she's kept every receipt from new including the original bill of sale. The service book has only room for one more stamp and all work has been done by the original supplying dealer. It's just had it's second replacement cam belt and water pump fitted. Spare wheel is unused!

The body work has a few minor battle scars but it's not too bad. I think the colour is Draggon Green?

Lovely, would be perfect if it had a 20vt under the bonnet.. the 8v unit is pretty disappointing as I'm sure you're well aware now.

Decided whether you're keeping it or not?

I would love to keep the car, but I already have 4 vehicles (and my wife says "No!"). So now For Sale.

So a 50:50 split means £750 for your aunt. She'll be well happy! :D :P

Whitehaven is just down the road from my parents. As the others have said, the 2.0 8v isn't a great engine, shell looks tidy though :afro:
