Title: Discovery Pro - screen protection
Post by: Eccie on 17 June 2015, 09:19
Has anyone applied a screen protector? If so which and does it affect performance/sensitivity?

I had one (3M) on my old RNS510 and it worked a treat - with most things being setup/adjusted via the screen I wanted to give it a little protection

I've not got a screen protector on and it's coming up to two years old with no issues.

Personally can't see the need for a protector, it's not like it'll get scratched from keys or anything like a phone.

There's your answer.....remove one big sovereign ring.....jobs done

Seriously though, when I put the RNS510 in my Mk6 I was concerned about it getting marked but it was fine.
Plus these new units aren't interchangeable so its not as if you can sell on your Discovery Pro when you come to sell the car. Unless there are big scores on the screen folk would see any scratches as age related with the car. Not that I've had any scratches in over a years use but then my sovereigns are kept for my Saturday Night fever gear

The screens are different material from RNS to nav pro. It's much more hardy on the nav pro and you'd have to be a complete tool to scratch it.
