Hi I've recently joined and I need your help. I've just brought myself a mk2 golf gti 16v. The fuel housing was leaking and I've managed to find 1 2nd hand. So I took my car in to get it fitted and now the fuel pump in the housing is nakered what 1 do I need to get to go in the housing? I'm new to the Vw scene and I haven't a clue haha thanks folks

You could just upgrade to a silver top or red top, depends on your cash flow!
-
......actually scrap that unless your running carbs!!

The car is totally standard nothing after market on it. I notice euro car parts stock fuel pumps but are they up to the job?
-
euro do bosch pumps I think. they be pricey but its not the kind of thing you want to scrimp on.
-
Yeah I saw them I think £150 I don't mind paying that. Will that be fine to use then?
-
yeah should be as long as its genuine bosch. other makes might be as good but better the devil you know eh

btw whats wrong with the old pump? seized?
-
Yeah definitely mate I'll pop out and get 1 tomorrow. Thanks for the help folks 👍

you could try soaking it in a tub of diesel overnight see if it frees off. I freed one off once by soaking it for couple of hours then getting a battery and 2 wires and reversing the polarity so the pump spun backwards. worked a treat. worth trying in normal direction of rotation first though.

The housing had a slight crack so was leaking. After days of searching I found a 2nd hand fuel housing pump came with it. So my mechanic fitted the whole thing but now there's no leaking but the pump don't work for what ever reason. So I said can't you just put the old pump in the new housing he said will be better to replace with a new 1. Got no problem with buying a new 1. Oh and the screws that hold the pump in on the front of the plastic housing are rusted in. FML 😞
