Looks like I won't be getting my car tomorrow after all. Got a call at ten to five today saying that they were unable to tax the car because the private reg nominee form hadn't been sent to the dvla.
I handed the form into the dealers on the 17th of May and it's still there just now. Told the guy that it wasn't my problem it was theirs and they would have to do something pronto.
Was told that they will phone me in the morning after they try and get someone from vw finance to change the plates on the car to normal ones until they can get the correct documents from the dvla but it's highly unlikely that I would be able to get this done tomorrow as only so many staff work at vw finance on a Saturday and the fleet dept is closed. If this fails they are going to supply me with a courtesy car at their expense.
I wouldn't mind so much but I asked the fleet manager 2 weeks ago about the plate transfer and was told that they just do this on the day before pickup.
He better not be there when I go through tomorrow or I will end up in court Monday morning. Absolutely raging with them.
What sort of compensation should I be asking for?

Best I'd hope for is a full tank of fuel as a gesture of goodwill. Compensation? They given you a hire car at their expense or your car on temp plates for a few weeks so have you lost anything? Mistakes can happen.
Stop worrying about it and enjoy your GTD - dont let it sour your first few days with it.
PS - 13 weeks or so from order to delivery is fast!!!!

Take the approach of Roose Bolton and flay the salesman living.

A bit of an over reaction there, patience is a virtue and private plates usually are a pain in the arse for people not used to processing them. For being effectively a few days late I doubt you are going to get any goodwill. My car was 3 months late and I got feck-all because VW UK wanted to pick the dealership's pocket for any goodwill gesture (although for your minor setback, the dealership is at fault).

Already getting full tank of fuel, I won't mind if I can get my car on temp plates tbh I just want my car. I have no car for getting to work on Monday as I sold my BMW this morning because I was assured that it would be ready. It's not my fault that they waited until 4pm to tax the car and come to think about it they don't even need to go to the post office now so that makes it worse.
I called twice to check everything would be fine with the plates 2 weeks ago and the fleet manager said they didn't have to do anything which I was sceptical about at the time.
It's going to inconvenience me if I have to get a courtesy car as I will still have to waste money on fuel travelling back and forward to the dealers not to mention the admin fee for changing the plates on my car when that comes around.
On the other hand if they want to give me an R for a couple of days I am sure I could overlook the poor admin work

You are right monkeyhanger your wait was crazy, I can't fault VW UK or the salesman who has been top notch. I am laying the blame at the door of the fleet manager who I also told about the wrong plates on the car yesterday and it's now got me thinking have they tried to tax the plate they had on the car rather than mine.

VW UK and some of the dealers in the Inchcape group are a marriage made in Heaven or Hell to some of their customers.

I don't think you would want an R for the weekend. Jumping from that into a GTD is not going to feel great. Best getting an UP or a Polo

As said above don't let this little Hiccup take the shine off getting your new car, they are a lovely motor and just try and stay excited

Well if they do give you an UP make sure you get one with a sunroof
I don't have that problem, I'm vertically challenged

Not long off the phone to the dealer, they have miraculously managed to get a 15 plate on the car and are giving me 5 days insurance. Picking the car up at 11am
