Title: Weird idle issue
Post by: Exardious on 01 June 2015, 14:43
Hey all

So i have a small issue with my idle. When i start the car from cold, idle is fine. If i then drive to or from work, which is a 15 min. drive, and i arrive at my destination, my idle is just horrible. It splutters and stutters. But if i then turn of the ignition, and start the car again, the idle is fine again.

Any ideas whats going on?

Remove the isv ,clean it out with some petrol or carb cleaner,it may just be getting stuck.

Could A faulty / stuck ISV affect mpg? I'm getting dreadfull economy. 24mpg avarage brim to brim

At 24mpg I would suspect something else is happening. What's VCDS saying?

I would guess your temp sensor for the ecu is knackered, telling the ecu the engine is still cold when it is warmed up,but get it scanned for fault codes first before changing any parts,i used to get around 40mpg on my abf

I'd agree with the above on the ECU temp sensor, either that or the lambda sensor. Temp sensor is cheap and easy to replace so stick one in if you can't scan it for codes.
