Title: Jesus The golf turned up!
Post by: difficultrogue on 29 May 2015, 19:34
Well shes here! After a few months wait the pure white 5 door Gtd turned up yesterday morning!

Looks - Better than I expected, The black trim, wheels ect against the white paint - looks good!
Drive - Took me about an hour to get used to her but she drives nice! dealer told me not to go sport mode until a thousand miles!!! BUT MY HAND SLIPPED!  Shes got a strong mid range! sounds a bit throaty too!

Gave her a wash this morning, and not to much orange peel, But enough to warrant a flat and polish over the next few weeks!

In General - Very happy!  but can feel a chat with monkeyhanger is well in order re: warp speed upgrade!

Well I would never advocate thrashing a new car, but I certainly wouldn't baby it once it is warmed up either. Don't lose too much sleep in slipping into 80% of its potential when the oil is up to 90C.

After 7 VW TDIs, the only one that got babied was low on power, had poor fuel economy and used a litre of oil every 1000 miles or so.

I get my best mpg with Esso, BP and Sainsburys fuel have been fine too. I expected a lot of Shell (old pre-common rail TDIs used to run best on it), but in normal and V-power, the fuel economy and output were noticeably under what Esso gives for me.

Ordered on the 18-2-15 and arrived on the 28-5-15

I cant see why there is such a big difference with order/delivery dates!?!

lol - Shes become very selfish all of a sudden! and hid the spare key!

Anyways, After 5 days of golf excitement

Likes
lighting -dash lights, exterior lights, door mirror lights and that strip light on the door seal, all look the nuts!
Handling - Love it, ultra responsive!
Trim - all quality, tartan seats and the black roof lining,
Noise - In the low gears (Sport mode) its sounds ace!(from a oil burner)
Folding door mirrors, didnt expect them, Nice!
Smell - Its not just that new car smell, Its Golf new car smell!
Paint - The least amount of orange peel I have ever seen on a new car!

Dislikes
Radio display, crap resolution and the menus aint that great
Power, feels like its got some grunt up to 70 mph but the power seems to be a bit withdrawn after that, I was doing 70mph and dropped it down a gear and floored it and was expecting an elephant to kick me up the ar$e, but the elephant must have been having a day off!

Ill give some more observations as the days go on!

And sorry for you lot who have been waiting for your GTD for eons, but trust me, it will be worth the wait!

I gave my missus a budget well in excess of the golf, but shes a golf fan!

When she was given a delivery date it was like waiting for Christmas morning( with cherries on top ) - 5 more sleeps to go, 4 more sleeps to go! you get the picture!?!

So just hang in there people!
