I Have a mk7 gtd inbound this week, I only have standard issue stereo fitted
Where are the usb ports so I can play mp3 from a memory stick?
-
With the CMS system: The centre console comes with a iPhone connector, you just need to buy or ask nicely to get a USB lead instead. I kept mine from my MK6. There is an SD slot in the glove box along with a CD player
-
Didnt know it had a cd player - I sold all my cds after transfer to hard drive!
Can I plug a 1tb usb3 portable hard drive in to the glove box as its full up with mp3 files?
-
Yeah you can, I have used a HDD on mine for a while. Just make sure it's small because there isn't a lot of room

With the standard Composition Media System/Discovery Nav there is no USB port to connect to from factory. Best you can do is what everybody does with the MK7 and buy a big SD card. Or as someone suggested earlier, plug in your MDI cable into an Iphone/Ipod.

Yeah its looks like SD card slot is favourite for my music!
Is it standard size SD or micro?

Standard sized SD card.

Thanks for the advice lads!

Using an so card will also mean you'll get album artwork ( as long as it's less than 400x400)
