Title: Things be getting interesting... Clubsport and R400 testing
Post by: jv on 22 May 2015, 12:57
Now I thought the 'Clubsport' name was going to be little more than a badge but this is starting to sound good:

If they could focus on some weight loss too...

I saw those "wavy" brake discs they describe when I saw the RS3 in the flesh at Berlin's VW Forum centre. wavy circumference like a very blunt cog and drilled out - as brakes go they looked great.

That does look interesting.  I hope those things are options and it doesn't get watered down into some meaningless compromise car.

In both of these cases I would not got mad on the spec sheet, prob nav and dsg, in some ways the stripped out half gaged Clupsport appeals more as a car to hoon, just wish VW had the """"" to do that on a R400

My view with either would be not to go for DCC and ket some Bilstein B16s on

Agreed! That rear spoiler would be a no go for me.

Only wavy discs on the front for the RS3. I just had another look at the Berlin pictures I took at the VW forum of the RS3, and only took a wheel close up of the rear wheel (it is an ugly wheel) - those discs are round (and not drilled). The fronts were definitely as described though and thought they looked pretty smart at the time. No Bridgestones though!

The younger and uglier sibling of the Glendale

So you've got to buy an R400 to get a decent set of tyres on a VW these days
