Good Morning,
Is anyone running BBS CH-Rs (18s) and is there any feedback on rubbing on lock/fully loaded car (stock suspension)?
After reading this http://www.golfmk7.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6357 before I got my GTI I sourced winters. I went with 8” ET45 which moves the wheel face 10.4mm outwards and for the summers I went with 10 mm spacers all round on the Austin's. (I wasn’t interested in 10 on the front 20 on the rear etc, I am happy as is). I do however fancy a set of BBS CH-Rs. There are loads of Mk7s on the tinternet with them. However they are 8.5” ET 47 which moves the wheel face 14.7mm further out which is > than the 12mm inner clearance but < 15 outer clearance on the front arch. I have reached that point in life where I cant be RSed with any rub under any condition so was looking for real feedback.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Dave

From what I have read, there are many people running 8.5" ET45 (which will poke more and have less inner clearance) without any rubbing. Stick with stock tyre sizes an I'm sure you'll be fine, especially on stock suspension.
Even the ECS 'flush spacer kit' adds 15mm poke to the front (and 20mm to the rear) wheels without any issues.

Also, as you are changing the offset by so little, the shoulders of the tyre will be in virtually the same place (within 2mm) meaning the edges of the tyres (IE the bits that would normally rub) if it doesn't rub now, it's incredibly unlikely to rub with your new wheels.

Thanks,
I am sure have read of folk experiencing rubbing on lock/loaded with a bump situations withe the ECS kit.
You are right about the tread being in basically the same location, however there is variation in the manufactures sidewall profiles and I dont want to spank 1600+ quid and then hear that scrape

An educated guess from someone who has a bit of form in the alloy wheel department says they'll fit just fine with 235/35 tyres.
I had 8x19 ET44 BBS on mine for a little while and there was loads of clearance on the back and a bit more to play with at the front. Your set up won't be all that different to what I was running in the grand scheme of things.
The easiest way to make sure they'll fit ok will be to look at the TUV approval for the wheel and tyre combo.
If one of the big german retailers sell them with TUV approval for the mk7 then they'll fit, so have a look at tyreleader.co.uk or felgenoutlet.de

I've ran a set of these with winter tyres on for the last 2 winters and not had any problems with chafing. I'm not mechanical, but the spacers supplied were just put in and all has been ok.
