Finally getting my new car tomorrow, following months of car problems with my GTI, followed by months of poor service from VWFS and the car being stuck at emden port for a month.
Tomorrow afternoon, my GTI pp in night blue will be replaced by an R in Lapiz blue.
-
Congrats, make sure you put up some pictures asap !
-
Nice car, hopefully this will be a bit more lucky for you.
-
Do we detect a little bit of excitement?
It'll be interesting to hear your thoughts on the car bearing in mind what your PP was capable of when fully working (nudge nudge, wink wink...)
So, cut to the chase - when's the remap booked for?
-
Lol who ever said I was getting it remapped......probably about a month :P
The test drive I took in the R, speed wise was no different the the mapped GTI, it just felt significantly more planted and didn't spin the wheels in third.
I will of course give more details on it when I get it tomorrow. I will have both of the cars for 2 days together so I will do some comparisons stock vs stock.
-
This is a thread I'll be very interested in reading. Good luck with it!
-
the R will feel slower than your mapped GTI as it just hasn't got the mid range in standard tune when you have come from a remapped one
Had a 20 mile A road blast in mine on the way to Daventry on Sunday with empty roads and just realised where this car scores
-
The wait is painful!!!!
Still waiting for it to arrive, was told 3pm at the latest, more likely be about 1pm and it's now 3:10pm but everything else about this car has been delayed I'm not surprised the delivery is late to be honest.
-
Ah well, at least you get extra free coffee...
-
Its is the 13th too.....albeit not a Friday
-
Still waiting....3:42
-
Is it a lease car being delivered or are you stuck waiting at the dealer drinking coffee and eating biscuits whilst loudly tutting and pacing up and down?
If it's being delivered the guy might be lost or stuck in traffic (or enjoying the car if it's not on a trailer)
-
Being driven to me from the dealership. Around 200miles. I was told it would be here around 1pm but 3pm if the traffic was bad. It's now 4pm and I have kept my eye on the traffic.....there is about 10-20mins max worth of traffic on the route.
I'm guessing it's some 17yr old having fun.....I will be checking the car very carefully
-
Is it there yet?
-
Being driven to me from the dealership. Around 200miles.
I'm sure the car will be fine - although yes you need to look at it very carefully.
Its all down to the individual but these days no way would I have someone drive my brand new car - to me its a bit like getting somebody in to open your Christmas presents for you ;-)

Definitely. How does the customer stand if the car turns up with a few stone chips (not that it will!), having done a few hundred miles for delivery? Would they class it as an acceptable possibility considering the mode of delivery?
Remlapeel - go over that car with a fine toothed comb - if the driver does not hang around long enough, sign that you have received as unchecked and get on to the dealership ASAP if you find a ding/dent/chip/loose trim/scraped wheel or bumper. If the weather allows, give your car a wash straight away - most of the time you find paint chips etc when you wash the car!
-
Was there no way of paying a few ££ to get it transported? As said, there I no way I'd allow someone to drive my brand new car
-
It's here!!!
It would have had to pay £250 and wait at least another week. I have checked it over very carefully, took me about 30minutes with the guy itching to get away.
It was a guy in his 50s that drove it, it still classed as new until I sign so if any paint chips etc, they would sort it.
He must have drove it like a nun because he hit 39mpg on the run.
The car is literally perfect, which is such s relief given the crap with my GTi
-
Get some pics up then!

Quickly took this one, but not had chance to take any more. I'll get some up soon once cleaned etc
-
Very nice remlapeel
Glad it in arrived in one piece, even though I think you were mad to let them drive it
Look forward to seeing more pics of it in the sunshine, and hearing your thoughts on the car once you've got to know it a bit
-
Beautiful. Mine will look the same albeit with more doors!
Will be interested in what you think of it compared to the GTI as I am making the same move.
-
Lush!
-
The cars are totally different. The way the engine moves you is different, the R is so planted and drama free it makes the GTi look like a wild dog that's not restrained properly. (One of the plus points of the GTI imho)
The R picks up speed well, it's not as quick as a remapped GTI through the mid range, but from a standstill its immense.
The looks department is always going to be personal preference but, my R has got more looks today than my GTI has in the last 2-3 weeks, which is what I wanted.
The car is outstanding, worth the wait!
-
Best colour and wheels choice imo!

Agreed
-
Gorgeous motor Remlapeel! Funny thought - I'd love my GTI with four wheel drive so I could get all the power down!! It will never happen because of the R. Damn you R
-
Looks the biz Lee P!
Lapis looks great when that clean.
-
Looks great and reminds me what mine looked like and I really must dig the prets
-
I saw one of these in the showroom in the Exeter dealership this morning.
Looks stunning

Wow looks awesome,I also came from a revo mk7 gti & although I think the gti was faster ,you can't beat pulling out of a junction full throttle, without massive wheel spin.
-
Yeah, I really couldn't care if I lose a bit of mid range. Off the line is unreal, puts a smile one face every time.
I find myself driving slower in this that the GTI for some reason.

You sound like you've owned the car for a year rather than 1 day

The best Wheel and colour combination. However, I may be biased !!

^ I'd agree, although you are missing 2 doors!
15 days at Enden for mine today. I wonder if Ronald McDonald from McVW UK calls today as he promised last week.
-
JB that is a beautiful car. Probably one of the nicest I have ever seen lol

Or... You have 2 doors too many !!

I dread to think how much they'll knock that one out for. Their last black demo was up for about £38k

That blue just pops in the right lighting conditions.
I took a Lapis one out back in about Dec/Jan time and it looked really dull - this time of year they look soooooo good!

Detailed it today, checking everything was perfect. I'm glad to report it is. Also here is a pic of it done.

Looking even better than before  Detailing it yourself is the best way to get to know every inch of it.
