Hello peeps
Me and a few of the local lads fancy doing a Run What Ya Brung before the end of the year. Seeing as christmas is on its way and everyones going to be putting their hands in their pockets for that - I need to organise something sharpish!
Who will DEFINATLY be up for it? I'd go even if it snows(keen or stupid - i don't know!) if i've got a few who will 100% definatly come. I don't expect a massive turn out but if i can get some of us there and maybe show some Jap sh!te up i'll be happy
It'll be the first opportunity for me to see what my 2.0 beast can do! I'll have my 308 degree cam fitted and the interior stripped!
I've also advertised it on PPC, PVW, E1K, No-Rice, MK1 Owners and Londubs(cos i'm a bit of a forum ho!)
Who's game?
-
i think some of the audi sport lot are going to this
-
Might be going, depends whether i want to risk my new clutch.
-
It also looks like loads of french sh!te is going up on the same day too!
My MK1 Golf will have to fly the flag against the 205s! Bring 'em on!
-
I will be going to the RWYB at Avon Park that weekend. Will see if I can beat the 16.9 I done with my mini a couple of months ago.
-
A few of the lads off the E1K forum are going to Avon on the last weekend of the month if you fancied tagging along with them?
-
Yeah may be up for that!
-
Ok mate, you can keep up to date on the E1K forum - www.forums-elite1000.co.uk
I think it's a sticky in the General Discussion
-
Cheers mate.
So what do you recon a standard Mk2 8 valve Gti should run? O yeah I have a K+N panel filter fitted!!! WOW! ha ha ha ha
What you expecting yours to run?
-
sub 14 second at 105-107 going from last time.
Going from 8v's i've seen before probably about 17-18 seconds
-
God thats sh!te!!!! I will be well pissed if im that slow.
-
LOL!
Ryans right! About a 17 seconds is what a standard 8v will do!
I hoping to crack into the 14s.... The RWYB at Pod is only a week tomorrow so i'll get my times posted asap!
-
God thats sh!te!!!! I will be well pissed if im that slow.
I did 17.2 in my cabby with a filter and exhaust and I don't reckon an 8v mk2 will be much quicker than that I'm afraid.
I'm contemplating taking my little lad down to this next Sunday if I can afford it so I might get down there but not 100%. :undecided:
-
So my 1275 Mini is quicker than my Gti!!
I thought me Golf feels quicker than me Mini so I suppose I have a time to beat now!!
-
The mini is faster off the lines 'cos it weighs a lot less. The Golf would kill it on the road.
-
tbh my reaction times weren't great as I was too honest  and going on the green light, the trick is to set off when the lights go yellow and by the time you've reacted the lights will be green and you've shaved about .5 second off your time.
-
Could I just go along and watch? If so, how much does it cost? The Pod is just down the road from me, would be good to meet some more of you guys and see what your cars can do down the strip..............MIne would probably fall to bits if I tried it! How many of you are going roughly?
-
It's a tenner to get in mate. There should be loads of french and jap stuff there. I'm sure the fastest car of the day will probably be a Skyline or summit.
You're more than welcome to come a tag along. The main lot that are going are the No-Rice boys but i posted in PVW, PPC, E1K and couple of other forums. Me about 5 of my mates are going to join up with the No-Rice crew.
-
I cant make this as I forgot I'm actually on bl00dy call from work this week so have got no chance to get there.
-
Love to go up to Santa Pod but its just too far for me as im going out on Sat night. Avon Park will have to do for me.
-
Looks like it'll be dry and 20 degrees
-
I'd love to go to this but its just too far ..and im in england this week too!
Jet
-
I got a 14.6 on budgets and without a LSD
Not bad for a n/a 8v
-
Well done sir. I will see if I can beat it in my 8v in a couple of weeks
-

Damn that's a good time.
-
lol!
Let me know how you get on Zorro
-
I think I will have to strip it right out and run aviation fuel to get anywhere near that time.
Whats the spec of your Gti Mr V Wagon?
-
It's a fully balanced 2.0 8v(3A) with ARP rod bolts, TSR Pack D head, 308 cam, Audi 5 cylinder throttle body and matched manifold, Audi 5 cylinder warm up reg, 1.6 GTI fuel metering head, 4 branch and Powerflow system, k&n panel filter, reconditioned 1.8 GTI gbox.
-
sh@t hot time for an 8v mate...... respect
-
Thanks fella!
I really don't have a clue what sort of power it's kicking out so that's why i'm tagging along on the RR day! lol! I'm guesstimating 160bhp + or - 10  We'll find out soon
The engine is a complete 'home brew', it's never been set up on a RR - just by me and a quick test drive after adjustments!
-
RESPECT!!
Just think of the power after you get it set up on a R/Road!!
-
Nov 26th isn't too far! OH but does it feel it!
-
quicker than 217bhp of rallye on the 1/4 mile :embarassed:
be very interesting to see what power you have got :)
-
Me too matey. I've still go a couple of mods for it - get a pair of Toyo T1R tyres, lighten the flywheel and add a LSD. I should have the tyres sorted by the RR day but i don't think the flywheel affects BHP or LB/FT so i'm not in an immediate rush for that. And the LSD is a bit too expensive for me at the moment!
I really want to do the 1/4 again but i'll wait till next year - preferably on a VW event so I don't have to wait hours(!!) for a run!
-
Alightened and balanced flywheel should bring your time right down too.
My mini was .5 of a second quicker than a mates mini with the same spec as mine but with a normal flywheel!!
-
 Nice one Zorro
