Title: help needed please.

He is just bought a golf mk4 1.8t but it's hot a couple of things I'm not sure about one being a pipe missing off the air box, it found a picture of someone else on theirs.
And 2nd thing is the gear stick is stiff in 1,3,5, and reverse gears the guy I got it from said he put a new linkage the golf club looking thing lol. I followed you tube to sync them but no joy. Any help will be greatly appreciated thanks in advance.

Are you able to take a pic of the airbox? Is it a small outlet on side facing engine? Might be the Sai feed has been disconnected. What reg is the car?
Gearstick thing sounds odd. Is this problem when in motion?
