Title: Golf KR lift pump
Post by: dai-cymru on 04 May 2015, 16:18
My in tank fuel lift pump and level sender has failed  I have looked on GSF euro car parts and VW heritage and can't seem to find them  am I missing the obvious or are they now obsolete

if the sender and the pump have failed at same time I would suspect a wiring fault. check the power and earth under the plate in the boot first. gsf and euros have the pumps but not sure about the senders.

Hi. They have failed as there rotten and crumbled internally. My car is a barn find I'm rebuilding. Didn't realise they were separate units  :embarrassed:  so thanks for that as I was looking for the assembly.

maybe a second hand sender with a new pump fitted would be the answer. any chance of putting a pic of the old assembly up?

yeah it looks a bit rough alright. the one of a post 90 spec 8v or 16v should work fine. but you could probably clean the old one up. as long as the pipe from the pump to the fuel hose outside the tank isn't rotted through or the resistor strip for sender damaged. you could make a new wire for the float out of a coat hanger.
