Title: DTUK Performance pack tuning box work on normal gti?
Post by: Aitchi on 29 April 2015, 17:14
Hi, I've bought a DTUK tuning box off a friend without realising it was a performance pack tuning box! Would I still be able to use this on the non performance pack gti? I'm sure the Powertrain is the exact same on PP and normal GTI so there's no reason it shouldn't work? Am I correct in saying this?

Many thanks

Dan

Should be fine, just find the settings that suit you

Dan - do let us know how you find performance and fuel economy post fitting. I for one would be interested.

Just be aware when monitoring the economy that the MFD will over read (even more than normal), you'd be better calculating it manually. On the GTD the box makes the MFD over read by about 10%.

Any reports on the box? I'm considering one too. Does anyone know what price we pay as forum members?

Oh just to introduce myself. I've come over from the mk6 forum as I bought a 64 plate GTI MK7 last week in pure white with DSG, discover nav, winter pack and park assist.

Thanks
Chris.

I fitted mine a week or so ago and it's well worth the money. I was also due my first service so had to delay fitting it slightly but it's a definite improvement to the car.

I'm currently on Map 3+3 and it flies, especially once you hit approximately 4.5k.

When I first put it on, I was a little disappointed, however a little play around with the settings on it (and switching between mapped and unmapped) it really showed the difference. I think this is more down to how well the car handles the extra power than a there actually being a lack of extra power. The back to back testing I did proved this.

I might give my torque/dashcommand app a go and see if it picks up the extra performance available.

Also, I've had no issues and it's already up near 30 degrees most days here.
