Title: GFV on GTI Performance Pack
Post by: Mark V GTD on 29 April 2015, 13:27
The VW configurator considers the Performance Pack to simply be an option - however I was under the impression that cars with the pack are considered as different models in the finance (PCP) sense and attract a higher GFV than the standard version - can anyone confirm this please?

Early days this used to be the case on the configurator, and it was worth about 500 quid more than non-PP versions. It may still be the case on a personal PCP example, but you can't select a PP GTI as a separate model any more. With all the arsing around VW has done with GFVs since November, you really will have to go to the dealers to know for sure.

The PP is a funny old thing, as on insurance databases and car valuations it is pretty much considered as an autonomous model.
On broker websites it often seems to be a separate model but on the configurator it's just an extras pack like Tech or Parking packs.

So I guess the long and short of it is that it will indeed have a bearing on resale value but how much is anyone's guess.
I'm sure Evo1986 or Wrexham VW would be able to tell you how dealerships view the pack as far as valuations go in the real world should they ever drop by the forum...

When I bought my car, while doing research on different models/spec, the GFV difference between PP and standard GTI was negligible, same for the monthly payments which would indicate that the PP was considered by VW finance just as an option. However on V5 and also on specialty websites such as spare parts, etc it is considered as a separate model, you've actually got 2 different models: GTI MK7 and GTI Performance MK7.

Many thanks for all the helpful responses chaps. I was hoping a higher GFV might offset the cost of the pack to some degree - but seems not to be the case.

Finance apart, it must affect the used price later down the line....

I've just run a quick valuation on my car which is a 2013 GTI PP with nav and minimal other extras versus a non PP GTI with the same mileage and similar extras taken off the VW used cars website.
The non PP booked at between £400 and £500 less than my PP but had the Pro nav (whether that makes much difference)
