Afternoon All,
My steering column boot on the mk2 is in about 300 pieces.
I have called VW and they are obsolete.
After doing some research I can see that other people have been having issues getting hold of these?
I see the PAS ones are still available.
Can you make a PAS one fit?
Dont have the time to be rolling round scrap yards looking for Mk2s.
If not any idea what my other options are?
Cheers

LHD ones are available from heritage for about a tenner
I wonder if I can mod one of these to fit?

The PAS ones are too short, I just kept my eye on ebay and managed to pick up a new 'old stock' one, expensive though. I got a second hand one first but it fell to bits when I tried to fit it.

maybe you could make one up using a cv gaiter???

Ordered a left hand drive one from vw heritage, should arrive tomorrow, I'm hoping I can make it fit or at least use the top half that fits to the bulk head to come up with something.

You can use two pas ones together to make one. Bit of chopping, slide together and glue / staple, then wrap it.
LHD one won't work as it'll bend the wrong way.

Well, Im pretty sure the right hand drive one I took off was angled towards the centre of the car however the left hand drive one that's turned up is straight
Trouble is I've left it at work so won't know until after the weekend
I thought that it was going to angle the wrong way, I was going to chop it and glue it back together etc but we'll see what it's like when I get it home

How did you get on?

Closure on this from many years ago!
No issues with a LHD UJ Boot fitting to a RHD manual steering rack.
Don't get ripped off by people selling second hand ones for 80 quid.
Buy a brand new LHD one from VW Heritage.
