Title: Buy golf mk5 gti or golf mk6 gti?

As topic above!I am planing to purchase a used vw golf gti my question is go for golf mk5 gti or golf mk6 gti?n term of reliability and performance which gti is the better gti?The reason i put up this question is if i go for golf mk5 gti i can pay cash but if i go for golf mk6 gti i need to take up a loan,i don't like extra burden and monthly instalment please advise?Thanks in advance!

I was in exactly the same position, I had a mk5 gti before but it got wrote of, so I have been looking at the mk6, but I have now settled with the mk5, the mk6 is too refined,and does not feel as good as mk5, if you look at the 08 plates, if you get a mk5, get it serviced and Run it on shell vpower, they go wicked with a lovely sound

A mk6 is a mk5 with different body work and a few subtle differences. Save the cash, buy a late model, high spec mk5 GTI and use the money to run it on 98/99 octane fuel. And re-map it too, 40 odd more horse power from the engine as it is stock. :smiley:
