I have an AGZ V5 engine (10 valve 150bhp) but thinking of replacing it with a V6 from a 4motion. Is there any reason in theory why a V6 won't fit into place of the V5?
Provided I got the engine, ancillaries, wiring loom and ECU, it should all go in, connect to my V5's existing gearbox (unless someone can recommend a better one to swap in at the same time, a 6-speed from a GTI perhaps?) and run?
Basically, doing it for fun and to learn, but thought I may as well pick up a V6 engine as it's the same price as the V5 and there's more overhead and support for a little tuning.

just fit the 1.8t instead if you want to tune it as both the v5 and v6 are expensive to tune past a simple map

I had considered a 1.8T BAM engine swap, but the point isn't about hitting huge numbers, it's about the sound and feel of a V6 engine. This is going to wind up more of a cruising/show car than an all out performance machine. That honour will go to my mk5 GTI.
It's all well being logical about it and going "put a 1.8T lump in", then you think "why not get a 4motion car and use that instead", which evolves into "just get an mk4 R32 then" and soon becomes "why not get a mk5 R32"... You see where I'm going with this!

Just get a mk5 R32 mate

You mean the engine from it, yeah? Been thinking about that...
