Just inherited my oldest daughters mk4 1.9 gttdi 130 after she got a 7 seater.
It had the common limp/sticky vanes problem which was cured with a change of vacuum pipes and a 2nd hand turbo.
Not my 1st Golf, I did have a new remapped mk5 2.0 gttdi 4motion.
