Title: Keys - Weirdness
Post by: mustard on 22 April 2015, 06:19
The key I normally use opens all the doors and the boot when I push the unlock button and the car autolocks when I drive off. However the set I keep as a spare only unlocks the drivers door and requires a second push to unlock all the doors and the car does not autolock.

I have set and reset the locking in the MFD many times but this doesn't make a difference.

Anyone else experienced this and does anyone have a solution?

Mine does the same. Each key has its own personalised settings. Have you tried changing the MFD settings whilst the spare set is in the ignition?

Yes, have done that, makes no difference.

Only thing I can think of is that I had a new BCM, after that the key didn't work at all (no surprise) and the dealer recoded the key.

My spare only unlocks the driver's door too.  Haven't tried resetting the MFD yet, will try later.

Just tried resetting MFD with spare key in ignition, didn't work.  So tried resetting mfd with key in ignition and engine running, vehicle stationary.  It works.  Spare key now unlocks all doors.  Try that.

You have to program each setting you change on both keys. Those settings can be done in the MFD settings.

I know because I had the DRL's turned off when I bought the car. A couple of years later I tried my spare key to make sure the battery was ok and the DRL's were back on again, so I manually turned them off again.

Thanks Rebecca and Keith,

I had already tried setting it with the engine running, however I ran the engine, unchecked all the functions, stopped the engine got out and locked the car, unlocked it, started the engine and rechecked all the boxes and:

It now works.

When I tested it on mine I also unchecked everything first then reticked the 'open all doors' box, switching engine off in between.

Glad you got it sorted

What menu is this under?

In the DIS on mine it's under Convenience - Central locking - Door unlocking

Mines the same, My spare key or the parents key has the DRL still set on them and only comfort unlocks the drivers door.

I have left the DRL's on so that my mates know its not me driving, and to let me know if it is being driven like a hooligan.

I don't have this option & my key does this exact thing.

Take it I'll need a Vag-Com to sort it or a trip to the dealer stealers?
