Never had mine go off that I know of, is there a notification that says it's been activated while you've been away from the car?

Do you have VCDS?

I know when I first got mine, the alarm was faulty and sorted under warranty.

Try checking the proximity sensors in the central roof console. Might have something in front of them perhaps.  Give them a quick brush with a dry paint brush or similar.?

Mine started randomly going off a while ago- after it had gone off a few times I realised it was a big daddy longlegs flying around inside setting it off.

You haven't got anything like this flapping around inside?

Mine was going off when I first bought it a few years back, every time in the middle of the night!  The fix was to take to my local VW dealer (Lookers) they knocked the alarm interior and car tilt sensors to 50% this fixed the problem, quite common they said.  They did this free of charge as it is 5 minute job.
