Title: Engine noise normal?

Hi all,
I've noticed a kind of ticking/rattling noise from the engine but only when the car is stationary and in park or neutral, if I put it in reverse or drive it disappears.
Is this normal?

Mine is a manual. 20k and no strange noises at the moment.

30k on the clock in a GTI PP and no weird noises

Vag turbo engines have always made ticking noises, mine does it so I wouldnt worry about it personally
