Title: Scuff on Nogaro alloy
Post by: Gonz on 16 April 2015, 17:43
Hi guys,

First time posting here, so sorry if this is not the correct place! Earlier today some cow in her Audi Q5 decided she needed 3/4 of the road and so I unfortunately scuffed my front left alloy. Are there any companies that people know of that can fix the alloy? I have pictures I could add to show you the damage, but I cannot work out how to attach them :(.

Thanks!

Are they my best bet then? Will someone like chipsaway not be able to do it?

Thanks

No, if you want a proper job you'll need a specialist company.  Diamond cut wheels require a specific process to repair/refurb.  Don't know whereabouts you are in the UK, but Lepsons are well known on here and often recommended plus they do free carriage in the UK.

Prisine also get good reviews on this forum

I live just outside of Derby, there is a wheelspecialist centre in Derby - I might give them a ring in the morning. Such an awful feeling when it happened!

The company basically have to shave the wheel's face to the point of the chip/scuff being shaved away, then the wheel needs lacquering again. Had the wheel been a silver painted finish rather than diamond cut then chips away would manage it.

Or the one in Burton, I know they do polished finishes. Other option is Chartwells on Pridepark, but it'll cost ta!
