Title: Golf Recaro Heated Seat Retro-Fit,
Post by: YBTurbo on 15 April 2015, 15:42
Hi Guys,

UPDATE: Seats now in, Now trying to retrofit heated seat loom!

Just signed up, Currently have a '00 Mk IV 3-Door Comfortline, Bought a Blue Recaro interior earlier.

Back seats fit perfectly fine, Front seats have different Connector looms though!  (My current seats have Airbags, Not sure if the Recaros do as there's no Airbag logo on the side?)

What's the easiest way to fit them properly? I'll probably be refitting the original Comfortline interior when I sell the car and keeping the Recaros for my next Golf.

Can I just not connect the seats, And remove the Airbag light? Wheel my Steering Wheel/Passenger Airbags work okay?

Fitted. :D Airbag light works perfect too!

Just cut a portion of loom from the donor car, Wires happened to be the same colours as mine but seat connector was a slightly different size.

I just pushed the wires into the correct slot on the original connector (Leaving all original wiring and connectors intact) taped in place and airbag light comes on, Does a check and goes off again as normal!

Now heated seats, I have an extra green connector on the Recaro, Is this for heated seats?

yes mate, loom is fairly easy to make or buy, then you'll just need switches

Possibly can get the switches.

Ok so I have the switches with connectors and a little bit of loom and I have the connections for under the seat.

I know you can buy a loom to retrofit them but I can make one myself.

There's 6 wires per switch, I think there's a positive and earth that goes to the headlight switch to illuminate the seat switch, 2 wires to the seats.... I know the other 2 wires have fuses in them but where do I connect them to?

Thanks.

Correct me if I'm wrong...

From the switch on the dash,
1- Dimmed Power (Is this the dash light dimmer switch beside the main light switch?)
2- Connect to seat pin 4.
3- Connect to seat pin 2.
4- Both connected together to an inline 15amp fuse? Is 30 switch power a relay? (If so is it already in the car?)
5- Both connected together to an inline 7.5amp fuse? Is 75 switched power a relay? (If so is it already in the car?)
6- Dash ground, (Where exactly do I ground this to?)

I assume I can join the green seat ground wires together and ground them off the seat rail?

Just want to be 100% sure where everything goes before I even attempt it!

under the drivers side of the dash you will find a few terminals, the red are permanent live, the yellow switched. These have nuts on them so you can add ring terminals to them. Under there you will also find the same setup for earth terminals, I think they are just above the pedals. Take ALL the earths back to this point, don't rely on the seat rails to give you a good earth

Dimming wire is light blue with a yellow stripe I think...
