hay guys probably been asked before but which vcds do i need for my mk3 gti 8v. thinking of downloading it on my laptop.

It depends on which cable you bought. I bought a cheap 10$ cable and only VCDS Lite worked with it.

You either need the Hex+Can interface if you want to use full VCDS on a mk3 or VCDS lite which will work with all KKL cables (some better than others) but that is limited in function unless you register it for 99$.

There isn't a lot that you can really do on a mk3 with vagcom, but for fault checking of the engine the Lite version does just fine
