Title: Re Discount and Delivery time
Post by: Porker911 on 11 April 2015, 22:37
Hi

It's my first post on the forum and was after a bit of info. I ordered a new Golf GTI PP in pearl black with a few options (Dynaudio, DCC, heated windscreen) coming up to 5 weeks on this Tuesday.

Firstly I got a discount through Carwow paying about £26.8k for the car which retailed at just over £30k. I was happy with the deal but just wondered how this compared to others.

Also I've waited 5 weeks and the tracker says with factory for processing with no build date given. The dealer est 12 to 13 weeks (end of May) which I'm starting to think looks optimistic

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Welcome to the long wait club, I ordered my GTD 6 weeks ago and still waiting at stage 2. Dealer said i have an estimated BW19 but beginning to doubt that now. BW22 sees the new 2016 spec on the cars.

Diehammer: If you are BW19, then your tracker should have moved to stage 3 yesterday (it's BW15 this week).

Impatience should be expected, but you're way off late yet, my confirmed BW18 R was estimated as BW4!

Thats what i thought Monkeyhanger but i am not desperate for the car as i was planning to change in september so the longer it takes the better for me.

I ordered through drive the deal and got just over 12% but had to travel 300 miles, carwow dealers were around 10% so sounds about right from my experience last year. Enjoy

Any thoughts would be appreciated

I get the impression it seems to depend on the allowance the dealer has on placing orders for a particular model. Some of the places offering bigger discounts through brokers could get through their allowance quicker meaning longer wait times I guess?

It depends on how the dealer puts the sale through too.
I get the impression Carwow dealers use retail sales which would be subject to allocation more than those that punt through other big brokers by using their fleet sales departments which can help unshackle the allocation numbers.
My car took about six months from order to delivery (early 2013 order) yet others on here ordered through brokers using their fleet departments and got their cars much sooner.

Thanks for the comments guys much appreciated - the wait is soooooo painful, albeit sure will be worth the wait.
