Now it's never going to be an "easy" job to replace an engine wiring loom, but looks like my current one is a waste of time repairing by the time I get it out the car. So what I'm wondering is if I remove as much from the bay as I can (battery, air box, inlet manifold ect.) this in theory should make accessing all the locations the wiring loom snakes to easier, right? I'm working on a V5 engine so it's a fairly large beast!
Are there any other helpful hints for replacing the wiring looms, like drawing diagrams and labelling things up on a sketch and the new loom so I've got a crude wiring diagram? Cheers for the help guys and girls.

you could take pics of it as you go or put masking tape labels on each plug before removal. but generally wiring looms tend to fall back into place quite well and most plugs are different and wires only reach certain points in engine bay. what I would do though is take note of how many plugs you remove that way its easier to count them when finished to be sure they are all connected up.

Thanks mate. I assumed while I have the cooling system drained and half the e fine bay out the car its worth replacing the loom now. I shall source a replacement next week I think.
