Just wondering whould a faulty maf stop the car starting (gti mk4 1.8t )
-
no because u can start it with it not connected
-
Do you mean with just the plug disconnected ?
-
It will bump start but runs like its misfiring ?
-
Disconnect it and if it starts you know it's that, I've got my maf disconnected because mines forever eating them and it starts lumpy for two seconds maximum in cold mornings but runs great after that
-
Do you mean totally disconect IT or just unplug it ? Thanks for the help by the way
-
Unplug it mate your traction control light might come on (if you have it) but that's normall it'll go off after a few miles if you reconnect it
-
If its misfiring its more likely to be the plugs or a coil pack or the coil pack wiring.
you can disconnect the harness at the back of each coil pack and the note of the engine should change, if it doesn't you have found your faulty coil pack.
Don't run with the MAF disconnected for too long, you'll be using the stock ECU settings for fuel and it'll use more than it should and you'll also be down on power
