Title: Mk2 16v non starter....no fuel to injectors!
Post by: Marb on 02 April 2015, 21:08
Hi, my 91 16v is currently a non runner,  I hope someone here can help me get it going again.

Car broke down on the way to work about a month ago. It had been kangarooing before cutting out and I could hear the underside pump was humming when I tried to re start it, but it wouldn't start.

I replaced the lift pump, it started, I took it for a drive, all was good, I know what I'm doing, job done! ..........

Next time I go to start the car, it's having none of it!! I have since replaced the main pump and tried a different lift pump but it still won't start

I have checked the fuel line to the metering head, when I undid it I got a petrol facial so I know I've got fuel pressure up to there, but on removing the injectors there is nothing coming out when turning the key.

Can anyone tell me where to look next please?

After reading on line I had another look at the car today. When I depressed the plate under the metering head and turned the key I am getting petrol to the injectors after all!  Still won't bloody start tho. I've noticed the ISV is buzzin when ignition is on, I'm sure it used to pulsate, or is that only when the engine is running?

have you checked the rubber intake pipe for splits? not to clued up on k-jet but im thinking if pipe is split you wont be getting engine suction to open the flap when cranking.

ave you checked the plugs for spark? could be an intermittent ignition problem that's affected by heat. hall sender in distributor maybe?

Yep, got a spark. Think I'm going to give in on this one and tow it to a garage.
