Title: Exhaust rubber hanger
Post by: robw09 on 26 March 2015, 09:11
Hi all, anyone else had problems with the last (nearest the rear of the car) rubber hanger?  I have gone through 3 in 3 weeks and the last one lasted exactly 1 day!!

I am having to stretch it to get it on with the exhaust jacked up to the underside of the body.  Is there a way I should be hanging them or a different part or something else?

This is the part I am using.

my GTI 8v has a circle shaped one like this...https://sp.yimg.com/ib/th?id=HN.608042566460771766&pid=15.1&P=0  .. as the last one, the rest of the system are the diamond shaped as in your link

Hmmm, that may explain why it was really hard to get on, but i did replace like for like with the previous one lasting all the time i have owned.  so, that is at least 2 years.

Mine has some powerflex branded scenario (previous owner fitted), but it looks much closer to Rob's link than yours.

Mines held on at the rear with a chain!! Had the same problem, just kept cutting through the rubbers!! Don't have that problem anymore!!
