It's like this, I need to torque the 6 bolts that join the pressure plate to the crankshaft to 74 lb ft (according to Haynes) how the **** am I goin to do that when I cant stop the ******* crankshaft from turning?!?!!! Yes this is really getting to me!!! Anyone know how i can do this without sticking something in the block to lock it up and save me from knackering the internals?!?!

how about a piece of steel plate
jammed in the flywheel starter ring and a bolt inserted in one of the gearbox mounting holes ?

19mm socket and breaker bar on the crank bolt at the other end. Spin it till it jams on the floor and you should then be good to tighten stuff up against that. Or get a mate to hold the breaker
